The Lego Movie (2014)

Emmet (Chris Pratt) is a law abiding lego construction worker who gets corrupted by beautiful stranger, Wildstyle (Elizabeth Banks), when he gets a large piece of lego stuck to his back. With the ultra original tag of “The Special One”, it is up to Emmet and a team of familiar super heroes to stop the bad guy, Lord Business (Will Ferrell), from destroying the world and all it’s legoey inhabitants

Oblivion (2013)

Jack and Victoria are the only two people left on the planet after a nuclear war with an alien race. It’s their job to keep drones in operation so that enough sea water can be extracted and brought to Titan, one of Saturn’s moons along with other survivors who orbit the earth in a giant pyramid thing called a Tet. Don’t argue people, that’s pure science right there! But uh oh, a spaceship lands on earth and the contents of which make Jack question everything he knows

Chef (2014)

Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) is a top L.A. chef who is forced to reinvent his career after a video of him verbally attacking a critic goes viral and he loses his job. Rather than take the easy money (reality TV shows, etc), Casper attempts to rebuild his reputation selling Cuban sandwiches out of a filthy looking food truck. He also takes advantage of lapse child labour laws to use the opportunity to reconnect with his son (Emjay Anthony) and his estranged, out-of-his-league ex wife (Sofia Vergara).

Mad Max Fury Road (2015)

When Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) makes off with a bunch of her Imperial Overlord’s wives, she teams up with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) to fight off the warrior hordes, sand, flame thrower guitars and more sand while they attempt to reach the green, green grass of home in one long ass car chase.

Nightcrawler (2014)

Desperate, all round creepy dude Louis Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) gives up a life of petty theft to become a freelance news camera man, providing (and sometimes creating) video footage of gruesome crimes and accidents to a network news company with an amoral director (Renne Russo)

Jurassic World (2015)

In case you didn’t know, this is a movie about a dinosaur theme park in which the dinosaurs escape and some privileged white kids are put in danger (sound familiar?). It’s up to an animal handler (Chris Pratt) and the park administrator (Bryce Dallas Howard) to find the kids, capture the animals, restore the status quo and get a bit touchy feely before too many punters get all chewed up. Did I mention one of the dinosaurs has been genetically modified to be especially mean? Yep.
